Education

“Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow by;  instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water.  Through an active, reciprocal exchange, teaching can strengthen learning how to learn.”  – Loris Malaguzzi

We believe learning should be fun. Here at KangaKare childcare we follow an emergent play-based curriculum supported by Aistear and Siolta. We provide a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment that encourages independence and freedom of choice.

We work to provide a fun and happy learning environment where everyone’s voice is heard and respected. We incorporate Montessori in our play-based curriculum. The curriculum is structured so that it is flexible and can respond to children’s emerging interest and capabilities.

Although our role as educators is to provide provocations to stimulate discussion and enrich these learning experiences, children are encouraged to lead their own learning and to follow their own interests, building on their funds of knowledge, strengths and preferred ways of learning, while being supported to extend their capacity and repertoire for learning. The value of ‘learning by doing’ is emphasised through a project-based approach to learning experiences in which children are given the time, space and materials they need to explore, investigate and develop their interests.

The daily programme at KangaKare allows for the children to develop and learn using a range of activities, these include:
